Insomnia does not affect life expectancy

People who are concerned about the negative impact of sleep deprivation on health, reassured Australian scientists. They found that insomnia does not render a fatal influence on the duration of human life.

A team of scientists from Flinders University analyzed data from 17 studies, which have examined a possible link between insomnia and early death. In result, scientists have concluded that although insomnia is correlated with the development of different deviations, the probability of mortality it still does not increase.

“There is no specific evidence that insomnia significantly affects the duration of life”, – concluded the experts.
The negative impact of insomnia on health was noted in many studies. Those who are not getting enough sleep, increases the content of stress hormones and the result is it grows the blood pressure. At the same time disturbed the heart rhythm and cause interruptions in the immune system, as a consequence, develop nervousness and a tendency to infectious diseases.

But the researchers believe that the harm from insomnia, if it happened, although there is it is reversible. It’s enough to give yourself a chance to a normal sleep of 7-9 hours. According to them, even well-known in the history of torture insomnia does not lead to a fatal outcome despite suffering experienced by the people. Scientists noted that similar experiments with sleep deprivation in animals provide additional evidence that insomnia, as such, does not affect life expectancy. As expressed by the specialists, “in itself it is rarely fatal, but causes that cause insomnia, can sometimes kill.”
