Unnamed team to lead Jeffco Public Health until new director found
The Jefferson County Board of Health announced Wednesday that it has appointed a team to lead the department for now, but didn’t specify who will be in charge until a new director is hired.
The previous executive director, Dr. Dawn Comstock, resigned Feb. 7. The Board of Health received her resignation during an executive session, and members haven’t commented publicly on what led up to it, other than to thank Comstock for her service.
A news release announcing the “interim senior leadership team” didn’t specify who would be part of the team, saying only that it included “many longtime leaders and directors” of Jefferson County Public Health.
It did say that Dr. Sarah Rowan, the local health department’s medical director, will continue in her position. State law requires health departments to have a medical director on staff, or someone fulfilling that role as a consultant.
The board is still in the “planning stages” of recruiting a new executive director, according to the news release. Board of Health President Cheri Jahn thanked the interim team for leading the department while they go through the hiring process.
“The interim senior leadership team has already stepped up to the plate in leading JCPH through a difficult transition period, following two extremely demanding years,” she said in a news release. “We look forward to keeping the public updated through this transition with the interim senior leadership team and the coming search for the next Executive Director of JCPH.”
