This Is Exactly What Anna Heinrich Eats In A Day
Anna Heinrich is the radiant lawyer who won hearts across Australia when she won the very first season of The Bachelor in 2013. Five years on, the newlywed has proven to be a winner in the style and beauty stakes and now she’s sharing the secrets behind her healthy lifestyle.
Here, she reveals her fitness regimen, go-to healthy meals and the beauty products behind her enviable glow…
Going into the Christmas period, how do you stay fit over the Holidays?
“I try to keep up the same regimen that I do throughout the year and for me when it comes to health and fitness I’m someone who doesn’t restrict myself or diet, I just try to eat as healthy as I can at all times.”
“I also try to fit in a workout around my schedule, as it is very varied. I try and fit it in when I can and do some every day, even if it means a quick 30-minute walk.”
Do you prefer to train in the morning or in the afternoons?
“I’d say that I probably prefer to train in the morning, but I’m starting to like training when I get home from work because of daylight savings. I love going for a walk at 6’oclock now because it’s still light.”
Do you find that being with Tim influences the way that you workout?
“Yeah definitely, and I lived with my mum until I moved in with Tim. As soon as I changed my environment, I changed my thought process on food and fitness. Even though my family is pretty healthy, I’d be eating my mum’s homecooked dinners every day after work and there was always so much food on offer!”
“Now, we don’t really plan ahead and we buy our food fresh every day – we don’t have a huge amount of food in the house. My whole thought process around food kind of changed in that sense. I always make sure I’m eating but its always kind of good food.”
Could you take us through your day on a plate?
“I haven’t been eating as soon as I get up in the morning, my first meal would probably be around 11 to maybe one o’clock and that would be a breakfast meal.
“I love eggs or I even go to one of my favourite cafes and they do a breakfast bowl with eggs, kale, peas, nuts and then I normally add crispy bacon, because I love bacon.
“Its funny, when I order a salad, even for dinner I’d add a plate of chips or bacon and still feel like I’m doing the right thing by ordering the salad. But before breakfast, I wake up and get a coffee or green tea with lemon in it then my breakfast/lunch. Then in the afternoon, I think it depends on how I’m travelling, I might get a snack on the run, something like a piece of fruit or corn thins with cheese on them, or I might have a sushi roll. Every single day it’s different for me. Then for dinner, we try and have a piece of protein, vegetables or salad and then fruit and yoghurt for dessert. We love dark chocolate too. Or as an alternative, last night we made a chicken curry with cauliflower and mash. Even if we’re having spaghetti, we try and do half zucchini noodles or a healthy alternative.“

Could you kind of talk through what would be a day on the plate for you?
“I haven’t been eating as soon as I get up in the morning, my first meal would probably be around 11 to maybe one o’clock and that would be a breakfast meal.

In the lead up to a photo shoot or a big commitment, do you change up your routine in any way?
“I actually don’t, I just might have a little bit more motivation to workout, but I really do try and be as healthy and fit as I possibly can all the time. I don’t think just because you have photo-shoot you need to lose a bit of weight or tone up a bit more.
“I think it should be how you want to feel and look every day. So that’s how I see things. Every day I try and do something, and it’s a mix of workouts, some days ill do boxing or go for walks and runs, I did pump this morning and I’ve started doing cycle classes at Infinite Cycle which I’ve added to the mix. It’s really for me having a variety and mixing it up and trying to get a full body workout.”
What’s your everyday uniform?
“Probably one of two things, so either my activewear, so today I have just gone to the gym and I haven’t sweated a lot so I’m keeping these on for a while. Just find it’s so comfortable and my activewear is pretty cool so I do wear it often. Wearing it also gives you more motivation to do something more active. Or I’m in shorts, a mini skirt, sneakers and a shirt or a tee – I just kind of keep it basic, really. I love a white tee, or a white skirt and denim jeans.”
Are there any Australian designers that you love right now?
“My favourite and its been my favourite for a very long time is Bec and Bridge, I’ve worn them for years. Also Rebecca Vallance at the moment, I think her stuff is so amazing and such good quality. I wear so many of her pieces. I wore one of her dresses most recently at Melbourne cup and it just stands out for the quality and it’s really sophisticated and chic. There are not many Australian brands I don’t love.
In terms of swimwear are there any trends or styles that you particularly like right now?
“I do love a one piece – I think they’re really cool; you can even dress them up with a pair of cool shorts or something like that. I also just like the basic triangles at the moment, I’ve also been wearing a lot of florals – I really like pretty frills and florals.”
Do you have any tanning secrets?
“I’m not a huge spray tan girl; I only get them every so often. I use tinted moisturizer, there’s this one of been using for ages – its great cheap buy, its called Sugar Baby Ready Set Glow Tinted Self Tanning Cream ($19.95; myer.com.au). My favourite one is Loving Tan’s Bronze Shimmer, ($32.95; davidjones.com.au) it’s a bronze shimmer cream, it’s really great it just stays on.”
