Sleep 6-8 hours a night is preferable for the heart
Scientists have found out, what sleep is most advantageous to the heart. They found that people who sleep 6-8 hours a day, less than other exposed to the cardiovascular diseases.
A group of scientists which included experts from the Beijing hospital Fuwai and the canadian McMaster University, studied the relationship between sleep duration and indicators of cardiac health. According to the conclusion made by scientists to maintain heart muscle in good shape is preferable to sleep at least 6 hours but no more than 8 hours a day. Deviation from these figures in both plus and minus, negative impact on the body, convinced by the scientific experts.
In this project participated more than a hundred thousand volunteers aged from 35 to 70 years. Eight years of observations have allowed scientists to see a pattern – people who slept more than 8 hours a day, were more prone to heart problems. In particular, among this category of citizens was recorded 4.3 thousand cases of cardiovascular disease and as many deaths.
The experts decided to find out what the sleep duration is preferable to maintain healthy heart function. They took into account such factors as gender, age, hereditary disease, addiction to tobacco or alcohol, the presence of diabetes and pressure problems. Thus it was determined the optimal sleep time.
“People who sleep 6-8 hours per night less than other exposed to the cardiovascular diseases,” the researchers noted.
